A prayer after the Buffalo massacre
The racist attack in Buffalo last weekend continues to reverberate in our conversations and prayers here at the General Theological Seminary. Gun violence remains a distinct evil of American life that destroys communities and too often weaponizes the impulse of retaliation. We weep for the victims and are burdened for their grieving loved ones. We pray for God's presence for the hurting and stand alongside community and movement leaders working for the promise of the Gospel: peace in our hearts and our world.
GTS condemns the voices that promote white supremacy, the laws that maintain white supremacy, and the ideologies that anchor white supremacy. May our transformation be rooted in the liberation of the oppressed, rooted in the conviction that salvation is shared by all and for all.
